Sportpark Duisburg – a stage for world-class sporting events

Centrally located in the heart of our city, the 200‑hectare Sportpark Duisburg is one of the largest connected sports areas in Germany.

With extensive sports facilities, a capacity of more than 400 comfortable overnight accommodations and a rich culinary offering, the sports park is perfectly equipped to meet a wide range of needs. Another highlight is the park’s perfect location in the well-connected Ruhr region.

Its excellent reputation as a host to major sporting events is recognised far and wide outside Duisburg. The park’s regatta course, a recurring venue for international canoe racing competitions, has earned the well-deserved nickname ‘Wimbledon of canoeing’. The park also attracts other exciting events every year, such as the high-energy Muddy Angel runs and the challenging Ironman competitions, which demonstrate the location’s diversity and appeal.

The sports park provides an extensive backdrop for a wide range of competitive sports, including track and field, speed skating, water skiing, wakeboarding as well as water polo, ice hockey and hockey. Special events such as motorboat races, open water swimming and fishing competitions have also taken place here, highlighting the park’s diverse uses and the wide range of sporting activities it facilitates.

In 2025, Sportpark Duisburg will once again play an important role on the international stage by hosting the FISU University Games for the second time. This event will put the spotlight on the dynamic and vibrant sports culture that is cultivated at the Sportpark again.
